Question: Why do Russian women marry early?

Although most women who immigrated from the former Soviet Union from the 1970s through 1990s were Jewish, experts in that groups immigration say the pattern of early marriage is attributable to cultural family patterns that transcend religious beliefs, and is thus likely to extend to all Russian-speaking immigrants.

How do Russian weddings work?

A traditional Russian wedding can last between two days and one week. The celebration involves dancing, singing, toasting, and banqueting. The best man and maid of honor are called Witnesses or Свидетели (svideteli) in Russian. The ceremony and the ring exchange take place on the first day of the wedding.

Which hand do Russians wear wedding rings on?

Today, wedding rings are most commonly worn on the fourth finger of the left hand. But some countries including India, Germany, Spain, Norway, and Russia traditionally wear their wedding rings on their right hand. Overall, it seems cultural traditions and norms set the standard for this custom.
